Outreach Ministries
Connect with a community that cares.
Sometimes the world can be cold and lonely, but at First Presbyterian Church, you’ll find a community of people who care. Our Outreach Ministries are dedicated to bringing comfort and hope to those who are often marginalized in our society. Come join us and be part of something special.
Ways We Outreach
The Snack Pack
Mother Teresa said that if you cannot feed a hundred people, then feed just one. Our Snack Pack Ministry was born from this idea. The Snack Pack contains water, Vienna sausages, a fruit cup, a pack of crackers, a granola bar and a spoon. Our members also donate fresh fruit and vegetables from their gardens and hygiene items. The Snack Pack Ministry serves 20 – 40 of our neighbors and the unhoused on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. The average cost per day is $100.00. The need for Snack Packs increases greatly in the summer months when children are out of school. Donations are always welcome. Please designate that your donation is for the Snack Pack Ministry or come help us give out the Snack Packs one day!
Mission Offerings
FPC participates in the following PC (USA) Mission Offerings: One Great Hour of Sharing, Pentecost & Christmas Joy. In addition each Mother’s Day, we receive an offering to benefit the Caring Hands Fund of Presbyterian Homes.
Souper Bowl Sunday
On Super Bowl Sunday, we use the energy around the big game to get folks excited about caring for people in our community who are hungry. We collect cans of soup for our Senior Grocery Ministry and all monies collected benefit Manna House!
Christmas Outreach
Angel Tree: At Christmas, we sponsor an Angel Tree to provide Christmas gifts for children in need. In addition to gifts for the children, each family receives a generous bag of groceries.
Santa Clause Express: In coordination with the Savannah Presbytery, we collect gifts such as personal care items, blankets, socks, etc. for seniors living in the Swainsboro Presbyterian Homes Apartments.
